How can we significantly decrease the racism towards Asian Americans created during the Covid-19 pandemic? There are many ways that we can address these issues, but it begins with spreading awareness. One of the main reasons that this problem has gone on is because it is not spoken about as much as other problems in media and society. To mitigate these problems, we need to make sure that the people of America acknowledge the fact that racism and the violence caused by it have increased in the past years. A way to do this is by implementing proper Asian American studies into our public education curriculums. For Asian people to break free of the racial prejudices that exist, a real historical representation of the Asian community in America must be implemented in public schooling. This is the strongest method of spreading awareness to our youth and future generations. Another thing that we must do is spread awareness amongst the older population. Many people may have misconceptions about generalizing all Asian people as enemy nations due to the past of Japan during WWII and China during the spread of the Coronavirus. An effective way of accomplishing this is by spreading Asian American history through social media and the news. Technology is our best way of spreading information to teenagers and adults and the media is a powerful tool that can help accomplish our goal of spreading awareness to the public. The last step that we need to take is to put more resources and efforts into supporting the victims of anti-Asian hate crimes. With the increase in violence and hate crimes, there are many victims whose businesses and lives have been lost and must be taken care of. By accomplishing all these goals, we can decrease the racism and violence happening against Asian Americans.
